Vickie Lynn Larson, 61, Mankato, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Oaklawn Health Care Center. Memorial Service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at New Creation World Outreach Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Vickie Lynn Larson was born March 29, 1951 in Mankato, Minnesota to Burnham and Peggy (Frommes) Williams. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1969 and attended the Mankato Area Vocational Institute graduating in 1970 with a secretarial administrative degree. Her first job was with Metropolitan Life Insurance where she was the assistant office manager leaving in 1980. She worked for Carlson Craft from 1981 to 1990 as the group leader in the Keylining Department. In 1990, she was hired by Minnesota State University, Mankato where she held various positions starting with administrative assistant in the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Department, manager of the Campus Computer Store for 17 years and last as Registration Specialist in the Registrar’s Office until medical problems forced her to leave.

Vickie loved reading and sewing; but her greatest love was knitting. It wasn’t unusual for her to be working on a prayer shawl , scarf or mittens to give to charity. She organized several fund drives over the years on Campus for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. However, she enjoyed spending time with her children and family the most and especially holding the Thanksgiving dinner. Her greatest joy of all was becoming a grandmother in May, 2010.

Vickie is survived by her son Andrew and girlfriend Holly Fields, of Minneapolis, daughter Kimberly (Adam) Starz, and granddaughter Emmalise Victoria Starz of Ghent, mother Peggy Williams, brother Peter (Wendy) Williams, sister Mary (Glenn) Klaus all of Mankato, nephews Peter (Theresa) Shrader of Savage , David Klaus and his fiancé Aria McCabe of Mankato, James Williams and Stephen Williams of South Dakota and several great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, father Burnham, grandparents Peter and Mary Frommes, David and Francis Williams, in-laws Clarence and Evelyn Larson, Aunt and Uncle, Kenneth and Constance Sorenson and two infant nieces.
